Assistant Controller

Avanti is recruiting on behalf of a long-standing Sacramento financial institution to fill a crucial role in the management team. We are seeking a qualified and accomplished Assistant Controller for this premier Sacramento employer who emphasizes employee growth and retention!

The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller and CFO in managing the bank’s accounting functions, including monthly reporting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. They will conduct accounting and financial data analysis to support decision-making processes. The successful candidate will oversee budgeting activities, ensure accurate and timely processing of AP and expenditure reports, and finalize monthly financial results. The Assistant Controller will also support and maintain the bank’s financial reporting and general ledger structure and serve as a liaison to functional leadership.

Additionally, the Assistant Controller will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, partnering with Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit teams. They will coordinate the preparation of periodic audits by internal and external entities and uphold record systems and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field, 3-5 years of public accounting experience or equivalent and comprehensive understanding of GAAP. In addition, previous accounting experience in the banking or financial services industry is preferred as well as a CPA or current pursuit of a CPA.
